This link is part of Vultr's Give $300, Get $100 referral offer: new customers who sign up through it get $300 in credit to test Vultr. Any unused part of the credit expires after 30 days, so it's for trying things out, not for running a server for months.

Do I need to enter a Vultr promo code?
Not with this link. The $300 comes with the referral link itself. Vultr also lists a public code, FLY300VULTR, for the same amount, but it's one promotion per customer, so you don't need both.

No. It's for new customers, and duplicate accounts aren't eligible.
How long does Vultr free credit last?
